The Fairphone (Gen. 6) with /e/OS

Only had this phone a week and I am very satisfied - I enjoy the privacy features and many options available and runs as if not more smoothly as my previous phone

A few weeks in, just over the hump of learning a new o/s and I'm loving it.

Bought a week ago, and I'm very happy with the phone - does everything I need of to, and with /e/os doesn't have any of the bloat features I don't want with android.

The phone is excellent. Only reasons for 4 stars not 5 stars... 1) if I download an app from the Murena app lounge, I cannot delete it. I now have my own bloatware. 2) To get the 3 year warranty you must register through the fairphone app and it is not available for download. Also the only way to contact the fairphone company is through their A.I. chatbot "Tin". Tin doesn't allow any communication unless you have already set up your account and registered your email. I gave my email address when I bought the phone but that isn't enough for Tin, it just says it can't find my email or name, then asks for my email and name again. It won't go any further without email and name, I am locked out. The fairphone company doesn't seem to have a phone number so... No 3 year warranty for me 😡

THe phone itself is pretty great, but there is a lot of thing that are quite buggy on murena, the biggest and most annoying is the wifi, i have app that can't connect to wifi without any reason, and sometimes i need to just reboot my phone for the connection to work. But the phone itself is pretty OK.

The phone has not been delivered after two weeks waiting... And I dont have any news. UPS uses to cause problems.

The phone has little things which could be better, but I believe they will come with time. I am especially glad that it's without ai or ads.

I really wanted to move from Apple to Fairphone. After 2 days of trying with the help of 2 professionals all we’d accomplished was the transfer of my contacts & calendar which when you clicked on it caused the app to crash. So reluctantly I had to send the Fairphone back & order a new iPhone.

Fantastic color on the mobile Forrest green I just luv it, very fair. The battery time id good. I love the fact that it is without Google and Android. Power to Europe products.

New phone arrived with a broken screw on the left side of the battery backplate. I can neither remove the backplate nor install the the supports for the lanyard. I have registered a repair request with customer service and I still have not heard from them. I am very disappointed with the lack of support and poor build quality.

For the price - best phone one can have. The general performance and quality is very good. Photo quality surprised me positively, though video quality is a bit lacking, esp. in non perfect environment. Given the price it's still great. I wish I could pay proportionally more to get better video quality (or just be able to buy better camera module). Everything else is absolutely great and it's significantly crushing my previous phone which was iPhone 14 pro.

This is the 2nd Fairphone I've bought and I love it! The gen 6 seems to work better and more smoothly than my previous gen 5. I'm very happy!

I really like the phone and it's accessory. One thing is that the flip case doesn't have slits in it for cards like many other flip cases have. Another thing which you can't do much about is that the MitID app doesn't work on /e/OS. This is a essential app for people living in Denmark.

Just a nice and privacy preserving phone for all the things I need and like and probably the most important thing - no Android and no IPhone.

Ordered fairphone 6 never received sent to someone else's address nothing to do from my side. Had all the evidence required spoke to UPS collated and sent to fairphone only to be told they'd start an investigation in 14 days even though the case was pretty much self evident. Got my refund through the fossil fuel funding war toting Barclay's faster. Saying all that after 4 years a loyal customer sad to say not one anymore.

I'm very happy with the Fairphone 6. One of the main selling points for me was that it comes pre set up with a Google-less ROM. I know how to degoogle a device, but it being degoogled by default and with the manufacturer support is a huge plus. The experience has been flawless so far, with working notifications and full compatibility with all the apps I use, including banking apps. As for the device itself, I really like the design, how it feels in your hand, the button location... The specifications are enough for my needs and the camera quality is better than expected. The only con I can think of is the default launcher of /e/OS, called Bliss. I don't like it, and it's a pity it doesn't offer Trebuchet, the default on Lineage OS. It doesn't have an app drawer, and all the apps display on the main screens. However, it only took a few minutes to find and set up a goodalternative, like Lawnchair. App Lounge, the included package manager could use some improvements too. It's a sort of combination of Aurora Store and F-droid, but lacking features from both, such as adding repositories, selecting versions, reading reviews. Something I find a bit odd is that it fails to load the description pages of incompatible apps. It took a while for me to find out why some pages weren't loading. It should have a more clear indication of compatibility.

I bought it after having a Fairphone 3 for almost 5 years. Can't be more happy of my choice, the new OS works great with all my previous apps. Cheers Fairphone!

The phone looks and works as expected. Good design matters.

I'm pleased with it. It's taking a while to get used to its ways, but they are good ways - apart from the lack of simple ringtones and notification sounds! I'd like the option of a simple ping or ring as well as the many star-based ones, without having to find and download them. I'd also like to be able to remove some of the preloaded apps that I don't need, like the browser - I use Firefox. The camera is good, in spite of what several reviewers say. If you don't like the pre-installed app, there are plenty of open source alternatives to try. Ditto the keyboard. I wanted mine in Forest Green, but as they only do the flip case in black, I went with that :(

I brought this phone a month ago and find it great, especially the privacy settings.

An all-round decent phone! I got the e/OS Fairphone 6 after my iPhone gave up the ghost and I wanted to finally opt out of the Apple and Google ecosystems. Pros: - It's an ethical, private phone! - Apps work fine, including all necessary ID and banking apps (I'm in Italy and have had no issues with CIEid, Intesa San Paolo banking, Revolut, or anything else) - Never seems to overheat or lag like my iPhone did -- even in this heatwave. It actually feels super quick and responsive compared to even my husband's iPhone 13. - Battery life is also great! Easily lasts a day or more. - I love knowing that I can fix it easily if something needs replacing. Cons: - the camera is, unfortunately, a classic Android camera. Quality is just... OK. Nothing close to an iPhone, but it's a trade off I'm willing to make for the ethics, longevity and sustainability. - Mobile Data was really slow when I first installed my SIM, I had to research which changes to make in the settings to make it work properly. Strange that it didn't just work automatically, but also nothing unsolvable. All round I'm happy and looking forward to keeping this phone for a long time, and hopefully converting some people to Fairphone!

I've only had the FairPhone for a month but I love it. The Murena /e/OS is very easy and pleasant to use coming from iOS as it has an option to use motions similar to that other OS. Most of my apps work or have alternatives that give better privacy, so I'm very pleased. The phone is physically heavier and bigger than what I was used to (I've always liked small compact phones), but now I'm used yo it and I don't notice it anymore. If there's one thing I can point as something I don't like is that the camera and microphone block switch can be overridden via software, and I'd rather it couldn't. Overall it is pleasant to use, feels very sturdy and with the cover it has been well protected. I'm currently working in a construction site, so it gets handled with less than optimal care sometimes and is often exposed to dust, but it has dealt with it easily.

Im very happy with my de-googled version of the fairphone 6 with privacy of data being the main focus. The app store works well and I haven't had problems with any app that I've needed. I didn't add my bank cards onto the phone as that would mean downloading 'google wallet' - no thanks! When the fairphone connects with the car it doesn't show the songs on the screen but it plays smoothly via bluetooth and that's fine for me. I LOVE THIS PHONE. It's not slow either. Sometimes there is an occasional pause with the phone but after a moment it's back up and going. It never crashes out.

Good size, if slightly thicker than I'd like, and screen is clear and response is reasonably snappy. Every app I need is available and working well. I agree though with others comments about the conflict with screen-shot (power+vol down) and just power due to button position. /e/OS has a couple of quirks that have taken a little getting used to, but nothing problematic. Avoidance of Google a real bonus and the anonymous App Store access is great. The built-in browser is perfectly capable, too.

This is my second Fairphone I have bought, and I am quite pleased with it. I purposly wanted e/os version because I needed as much as possible degoogled phone that has locked bootloader. When I bought my first Fairphone which was Fairphone 4 one of the main reasons was it supported UbuntuTouch and Lineage OS. The only flaw on it is that after installing any custom ROM locking bootloader deletes your device. The new Fairphone 6 is quite lighter than the 4 one and it needs special screwdriver to open case (4 one dies not need any extra tool). On Fairphone 6 putting SIM or SD card as it is the same as all other smartphones (4 you have to remove battery). I have yet to test eSIM on Fairphone 6, on 4 version I have tried to test it on Lineage OS but most eSIM providers do not work with unlocked bootloader. For now murena OS is qute satisfying. I hope in future the company will consider to enable bootloader locking without deleting device (apparently it is possible, otherwise murena OS would be in the same rang as Lineage OS.

Overall I'm happy with the product but I'm experiencing some issues with the fingerprint to unlock the lobioe, for some reason I'm only capable of register one, every time I add another one I get an error message, that's the only flaw I found

I love it overall, and the phone seems high quality, but I had to spend too much time to set up my phone, because I had to do it all manually. Also, I had several issues with bugs, but they got solved eventually. We will have to see how it stands the test of time.

First of all it never arrived, so a bit non existent. Then, I cancelled the order and was promised a refund within 2-5 days but after 30 days fairphone has not even sent the funds!!! Fairphone is a shambles of a company I will never recommend you to a worst enemy...

I have never been happier with a phone. The camera is worst quality than i'm used to but the interface, settings and buttons are perfect. I love how i don't need to use google and how the dumb phone feature works.

I bought the Fairphone 6 just over a month ago, with the Murena /e/OS installed, as I wanted to completely de-Google my phone, plus I loved the concept of a repairable phone with long term support for the software. So far it's been a very enjoyable experience, where everything 'just works', including the recent update from /e/OS 3 to 4. I've tried as much as possible to stick with the standard apps but have had to change a few. The Message app didn't give me enough information as to which SIM I was using (I've got a dual set-up), so I replaced it with Fossify Messages. I've also swapped the photo Gallery for Aves Libre and the Web Browser for DuckDuckGo initially, now trialling IronFox. I've also successfully installed, either via Droid-ify (F-Droid), Komi Store (Github) or Obtainium (apkpure), some other apps I use, such as Signal, Zettel Notes (I'm also checking out Joplin), Lotus (music player), NewPipe (youtube player), Breezy Weather, KeePassDX (password manager), FreeOTP+, giffgaff, NHS App, SMS Backup, KOReader (e-books). I'm still working out how best to use some of the apps, eg the standard camera app, but it hasn't stopped me taking photos. Most things work even better than I'd hoped and, for my usage, the battery life is fantastic (min. 2 days). I even bought a FiiO Snowsky Mini A USB-C headphone adapter, which was literally 'plug and play'. And I can charge the phone at the same time if I need to. Before deciding on the Fairphone, I had read lots of reviews where people mentioned the volume buttons being opposite the on/off button, causing inadvertent screenshots, but this has only happened to me once to date. The only thing I miss from my old Xiaomi is the notification LED. I don't have my phone on me 24/7, so it was a useful indicator that I needed to 'fire it up' to check my messages or mail or both. As a possible alternative I'm trying out NotifyBuddy, which seems to be OK but I'm not sure it works 100% of the time and it does have an impact on battery life. The only 'negative' I've come across is the adaptive brightness for the display, which was flickering around so much, between different levels, that it was unusable, so I had to switch it off. All in all I love my new phone, as all the basic functions work well and the default settings are biased towards privacy, which was another key factor in my choice of phone.

I'm still experiencing it as I've had it for less than a month and I did the transfer manually (as my own preference), but so far so good! Trying to get used to the open access maps offered by the e/ OS, but I like the separation of things. Not a fan of the sound from the phone, and main camera could be better too, but you win some you lose some. Hope in the future one won't have to choose between privacy and performing features. I do love the Advanced privacy features and the button to toggle off the mic and camera. Would be even better if it couldn't be unlocked from the pop-up message. All in all, it feels good for the things I want it to do right now, but could be improved! Keep on the good work!

Does what I need it to. Has some issues with default store app, but alternative was easy to find. Battery life seems lower than previous device, but still adequette. Love the privacy/anonimity features.

Actually I have a fairphone 3+ (with a memory card) and now I'm trying to copy the data with a cable, as the video and instructions explain, and doesn't work. Indeed, there is no place for a memory card or another sim card. I've bought Murena because I'm interesting in a better and secure software, but if it's complicated to do this transition, I would come back to Android. How can we do this easily? Need a email to contact with you

I'm very happy with the purchase. The phone works well, but what I value the most is that it is fair! I'm glad that I could support a company like fairphone. I would love to see more businesses like them in the world.

Found it on Reddit while searching for new smartphone. I liked the idea of "degoogling". First time with e/OS, i am just learning the new things, but missing few details i was used to in old android phone.

Terrible placement of soundbuttons and on/off button. Have made several screenshots by accident. Also, from a privacy standpoint, what is the purpose of the yellow button if it is not even a physical switch. You could just as easy have made an optional software in the phone, witch i by the way would inactivate instantly. Unneccessary fluff if you ask me. I loved the placement of my old trusty fairphone 3. Over all quick loadingtimes and a good camrea, all in all the same old lovely fairphone. Please loose the fluff and bring back the functional buttons. :)

Really happy with the Fairphone 6 and not being attached to Google. I am finding the transition from iPhone to android easier than expected.

To preface my review: my latest phone was a Oneplus 5T running Android 9. So some of my gripes with the FP6 is simply due to the shock of going from the very simple, straightforward and intuitive Android 9 to the absolute mess that is Android 15, and seeing that even though the number of options and settings grew by OVER 9000%, the most useful, trivial, so-natural-that-you-never-notice-them features got thrown out along the way. I went for a completely google-less, minimalistic and privacy-focused setup. Overall, I'm happy with it and wouldn't want a different phone. The major pain points: Moments. Either I'm grossly misunderstanding the advantages of the FP and the user base it would attract, or the developers are. It makes no sense. Adding a small information bubble next to each of the 6*10^23 incomprehensible settings alone would have been much, much more useful. And the switch. The Oneplus had that wonderful 3-way switch that handled the sound settings (silent, vibrate, sound) so perfectly and intuitively that I literally never had to open the sound settings. Now, I had to spend two hours figuring out a method that will give like 60% of the functionality with 5x as many taps/clicks/movements. It's just awful. Next: no old-school Gestures (like draw a V on the screen when off and it activates the flashlight, draw an O and it opens the camera, etc.). Unforgivable. Last one: it is nice to have the option to set up different actions for pressing the power button (like double-press to activate flashlight). But it is not nice at all to have the fingerprint sensor integrated into the same button, so you cannot press the power button without unlocking the phone. And a flashlight is way less effective to navigate a dark area with the screen blinding you at the same time.

I initially bought my Fairphone 6 with E/OS. I found the transition from pure android to E/OS a little too limiting for several of the the enterprise apps I needed to run. I have re-flashed the phone with the Stock Android from Fairphone and I have not looked back.

Good that google apps are not compulsory but available to install if I wish. I like the Murena apps but don't like that I can't uninstall any I don't want. Good to have a fairphone which is modular and repairable. However I preferred the fairphone 3 having a replaceable battery without using a screwdriver - I don't know why this was not continued in fairphone 6. Also I was disappointed that support ended for fairphone 3.

Very happy with the purchase. Feels nice in the hand, has a nice green colour, camera, performance and battery life is good. Surprisingly only had issues with one android app - Smart ID, but I've read that it can still be activated by going to the bank in person instead of doing online in-app registration. Only wish the camera could do 4k 60 fps video.

Bought this with e/OS as I wanted to try a different perspective software wise. The phone itself is excellent. Having the ability to take it apart and tinker puts it above the rest as far as sustainability goes. However, an otherwise excellent experience was marred by software issues. Things like Wifi not working properly and apps not being able to update have made it clear that Murena's offering isn't quite there yet and it still needs a bit more time to cook. I will say that I fully intend to grab the stock Android version of this phone later. If you're on the fence, get the android version.

After 6-year old FP2, and lost 2-year old FP5, this is my third FP and I'm again satisfied with it. The battery capacity is amazing, and the phone does everything I need. The order was delivered very quickly. The update to /e/ OS was delivered within few days of its release.

Exactly the phone I wanted. Good battery, sufficiently good photos and all the other things that Fairphone and Murena does.

I was a satisfied user of an FP3+ and this new FP6 seems to confirm the opinion. Great job with the new cameras. Only one sorrow: the missing of the 3,5mm jack. It was very comfortable on FP3+ And one problem: I'm having difficult with Bluethoot on my car, sometimes it seems to be connected but during an incoming call, the audio doesn't work, although the phone light up the bluethoot icon, the audio remains not coupled with car equipment (I hear it on the phone). I think it could be a bug of the new O.S. version (e/OS/ 3.7.3-a15-20260506618655-official-FP6) and I hope it could be solved with next update.

It's reliable, strong privacy features, nice design and a great sustainability choice.

I've had the phone a few weeks now and i could not be happier. All the Swedish apps u need daily work flawlessly. i love the look of the phone, i love the finger loop and i love how the OS looks and feels. people online had warned of a bad camera? idk what they're on about. it's photos look great to me.

The phone is better then expected. I bought it to get away from Google and I honestly expected some usage issues. I am most pleased to say that that I was wrong. The phone works perfectly. The screen is good, the Murena /e/OS works great, internet speeds are great, call quality is great, camera is good (but i am not really a camera guy and not a expert in this area). Battery life is good but nothing exceptional. Build quality is excellent and I have a feeling that it is much more durable then my previous Android phones. I feared that there could be a problems with some of the apps I use but so far I have only had a problem with connecting my smartwatch because its app required Google play(So buying a compatible watch is next). I love using fairphone moments and using it and the phone in general has really decreased my phone time. I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants to get away from the big guys(Google, Apple) and their data collection. The only issue I see someone could have is if they want some super special camera. If you want the convince of using google apps you can install them but I will go the way of eliminating google completely from my life and this phone gives me a perfect starting point.

I was a bit sceptical since I had previously tried the FP2 around 10 years ago which was a minor disaster. But the FP6 is great! Running Murena and everything works great including ”critical ” apps.

Does what it says on the tin. The battery lasts for 2 days of active use (setting up phone, apps and configuring) and 3 of normal usage. Fast to load the apps and just works well.

Bought 3 weeks ago and so far very pleased with it. No drawbacks found as yet. So glad I found a phone that is made sustainably and has replaceable components. Also pleased with the e/os system with no Google involvement. All apps installed so far work fine.

Erratic touch screen behaviour when charging - swipes mistaken for clicks, double keying. Sometimes unplugging & replugging fixes it, sometimes not. Fortunately the battery is more than sufficient for me so I can usually avoid using while charging. Everything else is fine.

It has taken me quite a while to find my way through the set up. Even finding the extended warranty page and registering for this was quite an effort. It seems very slow laoding the internet at times I am tempted to change from Quant. Also the phone doesnt always display pages properly- I get can not be found messages which when I try on a different device

Great phone. Can't match the spec of a flagship obviously but everything I have run on it has worked without issue. With the fantastic repairability can commitment to updates in the future, don't see any reason for another phone in a good while. I chose /e/os and it is excellent.

Murena's /e/ OS has its quirks, but once you get used to them, this is an excellent phone. I couldn't be happier as a user! Amazing job and keep doing what you're dping!

I bought this phone when my iPhone started asking my age because it came highly recommended by my privacy conscious associates. It has not disappointed in its core aim! The privacy features are great, but are backed up by a genuinely usable experience - better than my iPhone in a number of areas! My CalDav worked out the box, which was a big hold back for me from Android in the past, and the anonymous app store and available open source packages are a dream. The weekly reports about how much tracking has been blocked are re-assuring. Battery life so far is excellent. I reckon it could do nearly three days with light usage and no Bluetooth. Downsides? The screen can be a little dim at times (but is otherwise on-par with my iPhone 13 mini's OLED). The fingerprint unlock is finicky, especially after having got used to my iPhone's facial recognition. Android's "back" navigation still has rough edges for me, but I knew that going in. The integrated weather reporting is a little vague. The alarms don't have the general routine daily wakeup features that the iPhone did.

I have been using it for a week now & it works well.

Overall good experience, however, phone crashes any time it gets close to an active wireless charging dock. This caused some confusion when I wanted to use it in my partner's car which has one. I know phone does not wirelessly charge, but it appears to be unshielded against such devices. Would prefer physical kill switches for camera / mic. Headphone jack would be nice. It's a bit of a chonker and I can't hold and operate it with one hand comfortably or for long periods. E/os is brilliant 10/10 no notes. Overall I'll take the flaws for the sake of privacy <3

After almost seven years with my Fairphone 3 it was time to upgrade to the newest model, and I've been very pleased. Can't think of any faults.

I am very happy of this purchase. Banking apps, Government authentication apps, they all worked from the start. Almost no hassle that's what's expected from a phone and it's delivered.

I like the device itself, for example, I prefer the fingerprint sensor to be on a separate button. I also appreciate the customizable switch button. /e/OS is seamlessly integrated into the FP6. Privacy and a reliable, repairable product were my main criteria.

The fairphone itself is very good 5/5 no complaints. I wouldnt really recommend e/os for anyone that isnt comfortable with a bit of inconvenience and a lot of workarounds for normal android functions tho but honestly im still glad i did it, i never have to see a digital ad again.

I’m very happy with my Fairphone 6! I have to say, though, that I find the position of the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons uncomfortable since they are aligned at the same height as the power/fingerprint reader button. When I press the latter to turn off the screen, I very often end up pressing the Volume Down button with my index finger as well, which causes an unwanted screenshot to be taken.

At first, I was a bit unsure whether to go for /e/OS. I’d previously had the Fairphone 3 and was very happy with it. I’d already taken a few steps to disable trackers and uncontrolled background processes. Now I’m more than happy with the FP6 and Murena.

The Fairphone is a nice designed smartphone, and on itself it works good. The Murena cloud works very fine. However,many important apps will not work with the /e/os platform. For me it has been impossible to find apps, that works in the danish community, such as parking apps - most important the MitID app, necessary to use to log in to banks and all official services. The one avaiable is outdated, you will need the official Google app.

Bought the phone 3 weeks ago. Moving from a Samsung galaxy s23 ultra I was expecting quite a downgrade. Bit honestly I'm very impressed. In my day to day use I see no difference beyond the weaker loudspeaker quality and weaker camera (but the fairphone one is incredibly acceptable). The experience with /e/os has been great and only one app didn't work for me (irobot roomba app). I really like the construction of the phone and the saner size, I just wish it had a headphone jack. Going the degoogled path was a bit challenging (specially maps) but I'm very happy there is no eavesdropping at the system level. Then I really agree with the values of fair employment, fair sourcing of materials, right to repair etc. Extremely happy

i purchased one month ago, after two weeks it stopped charging. 2 weeks after that and still no response from fairphone

So far I’m mostly really pleased with this phone. Great points: I am not remotely techy, but have managed with the change over (from 10yrs of iPhone) to e/os software with so much ease. I am very pleased that you can keep the camera and mic turned off, and that less of my info is going off to those big tech companies! And less ads are being forced upon me, which is great. Not so great points: The plastic casing feels a little cheap and slightly insubstantial to me. (I’ve now added a fp case and screen cover for protection.) The handset is also quite bulky, in comparison to my old phone, but I guess this is in part due to the repairability feature of the phone (which is one of the main reasons for my purchase!) So far, I’ve not been able to add any payment cards/wallet to my phone, but that’s probably a good thing in a way! Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and I’m hoping it stands up to the test of time.

To be honest this case is not very useful if you dont install any accessories to the back of yoir phone. This gap at the back is very annoying in touch. Material, color and package is vey nice though

It does everything my iphone does, most impressed! Feels good to own my phone, and not the other way round! Great to know I can switch my camera and mic off too.

Phone arrived as advertised and works great. Would recommend e/OS to anyone. Have had no issues installing and using regular Apps,including(because I have no choice!) Microsoft.

I have been with Apple for ten years watch, iPhone and iPad. I went cold turkey and got rid of them in two weeks after discovering the Fairphone 6 with /e/os. I don't have the sleek apple experience but I do have a sustainable product that meets my needs and challenges me to take my privacy more seriously

Great responsible phone. E/OS is very good! But the buttons on the phone are irritating.

Nice. With Murena everything is rolling smoothly. It is not a top notch phone, that's pretty clear. Fairphone is a political and ethical choice. It is when you are able to choose, that you must choose. It comes with some technical compromise that you must accept. But if and when you accept these compromises, you feel much better. Fairphone is a beautiful product.

A good phone overall, great for privacy concerns. However camera's performance is not that great, photos look washed out and weird, and unable to record video in a constant framerate (as opposed to variable). Microphone sounds bad in most cases, seems to be a software issue.

Having come from a refurbished Sony Xperia 1 IV I can genuinely say that I've really enjoyed this phone! If you have decent expectations and don't expect a flagship, you'll be happy! My old phone was a highend Sony flagship, but I'm honestly just grateful to own a phone to begin with! The Fairphone Gen 6 has been perfectly viable in my day to day life! The battery life has been wonderful, the screen isn't 4k like my old phone, but who seriously needs it to be? This phone is that. It's a phone. I've noticed that some animations get a bit slow for barely a fraction of a second, but unless if you're a high expectation tech reviewer YouTube channel with the expectations of a £2000 Z flip, you won't be bawling your eyes out about it anytime soon! Besides, I am actively happier with my choice of phone and whenever I use it I think to myself that I'm glad I made this change! As little of a change it may be in the grand scheme of things, I'm still glad I'm trying; and that's the main thing! Also, transitioning over to /e/OS was swift and pain free! Everything seems to work seamlessly and I recommend most people do it! Having the simplicity of Android but with the added privacy and simplicity of Murena has been a blast! All in all, it's a highly repairable and ethical phone that works perfectly for what I need it for! It's a decent price, it'll hopefully last me years and it'll save me money in the long run! Thank you Fairphone for actually making a difference and it brings me great joy to be part of the journey!

I wanted a Fairphone since I found out about its existence, I just had to wait few years for my iPhone7 to become truly obsolete. The migration from the iOS to /e/OS (the transfer of data and everything) was not the smoothest when I tried to do it on my own, but the support team provided me with step by step instructions on how to do that. You can check the steps in the link below. I think I was committed to the product (hardware and software) beforehand, so I'm happy to say, once set up, all the apps I use work well and the battery charges quickly and lasts very long. After a month of research, I selected the Fairphone 6 Murena os. I have used it for ten days now, and have only found three things that needs to improve for this to be excellent. I am from Danmark, and we have some apps, that require a national 2 factor approval system called MitID (My ID) and it requires either Google or Apple connection.

I bought my Fairphone at the beginning of March. The switch was easy, and so far I’ve only come across one app that didn’t work with the Murena OS (for Italians, PosteID doesn’t work, but CieID works just like IO). Everything else is working perfectly. Clearly, with the greater focus on privacy, you need to spend a bit more time setting up the phone if you want to get the most out of it (e.g. hidden IP). You also need to be more careful about which apps you install. For example, I’m currently trying out Beeper to avoid installing WhatsApp. If you plan to use Android Auto, look for information in the various Murena forums.

Great phone, has no serious disadvantages. Murena isn't perfect, but it's heading in the right direction. The placement of the buttons could be better, but can be used...

This is a good smartphone, working pretty much straight out of the box. I'm not using the Murena cloud for now, as I'm already using my own Nextcloud, but I noticed that it is working way better with e/OS than with Google Android. It is also quite flexible for personalization, with a variety of launchers available from the F-droid and Neo app stores. I'm not a fan of the "bliss" launcher. As per usual, there were a bit of hicups with bank applications, but they were pretty quickly solved.

The phone works, looks and feels as as one would expect. One clear issue I have discovered this far is the fingerprint scanner on the power button which is not very convenient for left-handed persons. It is also too sensitive: I often accidentally unlock the screen while putting the phone back to my pocket.

Ho acquistato il Fairphone con /e/OS per un motivo preciso: sostenere un'azienda europea e al tempo stesso allontanarmi da Google. Lo sto usando ormai da 3 settimane, e posso dire che mi sto trovando benissimo. Tutte le app che mi servono sono tranquillamente installabili e funzionano (CieID e le appe delle banche, importantissime in Italia), il cellulare ha una batteria che dura diversi giorni, un bello schermo e una fotocamera tutto sommato non male. Ci sono a volte alcuni problemi legati ad App Lounge, come ad esempio l'impossibilità di usare il proprio account Google (riesco a scaricare le app solo in forma anonima), alcune app non funzionano proprio e il software del microfono andrebbe un attimo sistemato per evitare una leggera distorsione metallica, ma sinceramente sono tutte piccolezze, di fronte ad uno smartphone che mette la privacy al primo posto. Personalmente continuo a consigliarlo ad amici e conoscenti: è semplicemente perfetto per un uso quotidiano.

Apps crash regularly, internet often not working while I would have full service on another phone. Product quality good, photo quality fine.

Having gotten sick of spending money on phones where various things would break or degrade, being able to replace certain parts at home was the reason I bought the phone. The murena OS works for the vast majority of things with some minimal troubleshooting with the apps and appstore and its enlightening to see just how much I was getting tracked and by what when using android. Its nice feeling like I'm not the product. You do end up taking a lot of accidental screenshots with the positioning of the power button and the volume down button relative to eachother but I was aware of this before I bought the phone and its only really a minor inconvinience. All in all very please and probably will go back to fairphone when I eventually need a new phone.

After a few weeks of use I'm pretty surprised by this phone. Not about its features, I already knew pretty much what I was getting, I'm surprised at how happy it makes me feel. This maybe a very subjective review, but after years of wanting to change to open source and opt out of anything related to big tech, I got the gen 6 with eOs and I feel at home. I had been inching slowly and now I realize this is my ecosystem. I don't miss the few occasional extras from my previous system, the phone itself is lovely, I find everthing I need in it, I trust it more, I enjoy using it more, I even feel like bragging about it. When I show it to other people their interest is peaked by issues like repairability, sustainability, eco-friendliness, longevity, privacy, independence, etc. Nobody has asked me anything about specs, refresh rates or megapixels. I haven't installed any propietary apps yet, but if I need to temporarily, I know that I can. Nothing is perfect or black and white, but this purchase didn't make me feel blackmailed or manipulated like most current tech does. I didn't feel like holding my nose while signing away my rights just because my water heater, or my toaster, wants something ridiculous like installing an app, connecting to the wifi, or listening to my conversations while waiting for an instruction. I am much more aligned with the ethos behind this product, I am quite happy walking a few steps to push a button if it means better privacy and a fairer world and I don't need tech handholding me through everyday tasks. I feel better ownership of my phone now and some pleasure in voting with my wallet for the world I want. That's it, just happy I finally did it.

Great, everything is just as I expected. I love the camera and the camera/microphone switch. In my case, I chose the model with the Murena OS, and so far it’s been great. It lets me install any Android app while blocking and alerting me to trackers in those apps. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Very nice phone, sufficiently good specs for the majority of people. It may not have the very best specs but it works perfectly fine, including camera and some gaming capabilities. Also great alternative OS if you want to detach from the big companies, it works very well.

Not too easy to set up but also secure for privacy and filled with everything I need. I don't miss anything from Samsung. The only problem I have is connecting with the 5G. It doesn't work very well. I don't know why

I like the e/OS focus on Data Security For me its the sweet spot between Data Security and Comfort My Banking App worked immediately, one time it didn't open and the solution was to just allow GPS location and it worked normally.. So sometimes the data security makes you make an extra step but this for me is totally worth it - I don't think we should keep giving away our data on a silver platter... The fairphone 6 as a device I also like. I especially like the easy repair options if ever needed. For now I am a happy customer - keep up the good work
