The replaceable battery is covered by a dedicated 14-month voluntary commercial warranty. The Fairphone (Gen. 6) comes with a triple-camera system that includes a 50MP main camera with a Sony LYTIA 700C sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide Camera with autofocus, and a 32MP front camera with a Samsung KD1 sensor. It supports video recording up to 4K resolution and 60 fps with HDR recording. The Sony Lytia 700c sensor on the main camera offers a wider dynamic range and improved low-light shooting capabilities and features optical image stabilization for steady shots with minimal blur.

The camera software has also been optimized for instant point-and-shoot ease with reduced shutter lag, making sure you never miss a moment. It’s rated for more than 1,000 charge cycles while retaining at least 80% of its original capacity, after which you can replace it yourself with a new battery using a Torx T5 screwdriver. The Fairphone (Gen. 6) also offers Fairphone Moments, a dedicated digital detox-slash-focus mode designed to boost your digital well-being and reduce your screentime. A physical lime switch on the side of the device instantly toggles this minimalist OS experience, keeping five apps of your choice on the homescreen and disabling the rest. Switch back and you go to full-fledged Android immediately.
The Fairphone (Gen. 6) runs on the Android 15 operating system at launch, a clean Android experience without clutter and bloatware. However, you are not restricted to Android alone. Fairphone champions open-source, and offers you full freedom to install any OS of your choice, without risking voiding your warranty. Alternatively, you can also pick up a Fairphone (Gen. 6) edition with Murena’s privacy-focused /e/OS preinstalled instead of Android.
For the first time, Fairphone now offers modular accessories that you can attach to your device to add more functionality and improve your everyday. We hit our goal of using over 50% fair-mined and recycled materials (by weight) in a smartphone with the Fairphone (Gen. 6).
- High Recycled Content: We nearly eliminated virgin plastic from the phone’s structural elements, reaching over 90% recycled plastics. Key internal components like the main PCB use 100% recycled gold and 100% recycled copper, while the display frame utilizes 98% recycled magnesium.
- Fair Mined & Mineral Credits: For materials where tracking individual sourcing is difficult in complex global supply chains, we purchase direct mineral credits to support small-scale and artisanal miners. This includes 100% impact cobalt credits and 100% Fairmined silver credits for the battery, alongside Fairtrade gold integrated into our supply chain.
- Pioneering Copper Credits: We expanded our cobalt credit model to copper, directly funding workplace improvements for artisanal mining cooperatives in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Electronics assembly workers earn around $16–$17 per day, but a true living wage requires $23 per day. For every hour spent assembling Fairphone devices, we pay the difference. By contributing just $1.05 per phone, we help bridge the gap to a living wage for factory workers at our final assembly factories, as well as select component supplier and sub-supplier factories. Because assembly lines are shared, bonus payments are split equally among all lower-paid workers in a facility, regardless of whether they directly worked on a Fairphone product.
We trained worker and management representatives at our assembly factories for the Fairphone (Gen. 6) on grievance channels and rights. Our Speak Up Platform is now available worldwide for anyone to raise their concerns. Investments were made directly into factory improvements based on worker feedback, such as creating on-site nursery rooms and improving dormitory facilities.
We are the first tech company to completely eliminate exposure to all CEPN (Clean Electronics Production Network) priority chemicals in our final assembly processes, ensuring workers do not have to trade their health for a paycheck. The total product carbon footprint for the Fairphone (Gen. 6) was reduced to 29 kg CO₂e (down from 42 kg CO₂e on the Fairphone 5). This 30% reduction was achieved through increased recycled material content and by powering 28% of component manufacturing with renewable electricity through both onsite renewable energy (e.g., solar panels) and purchasing renewable energy credits.
We collect and recycle a weight-equivalent amount of electronic waste for every Fairphone (Gen. 6) purchased. We manage this through our partners in countries like Ghana, our official take-back program, and school e-waste races in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK.
