The Fairphone (Gen. 6): A smartphone that is fairer in every way
The new Fairphone (Gen. 6) isn’t just a powerful device. It’s our most sustainable phone ever. Our latest model is made to last, made from more fair and recycled materials than ever before, and made to be as climate-conscious as possible. It’s a phone that respects your time and your values. It respects the people who make it, and the planet it’s made on. It’s a deeper idea of what a smartphone can be.
The Fairphone is our most sustainable phone ever
At Fairphone, we have always ensured that our devices are designed with the lowest carbon footprint possible. The majority of a phone’s carbon emissions happen before it even reaches your hands — during production. So by extending its life — by keeping it in use twice as long — we reduce its carbon footprint by nearly half. Making things last is one of the most powerful tools we have for reducing emissions.
Based on our preliminary calculations, we expect The Fairphone (Gen. 6) to have the lowest carbon footprint of ALL the smartphones that we’ve ever built.* And so far, we have not come across ANY other smartphone with a lower footprint! That’s because it’s not just designed to last longer, it also factors in how it was made.
*Final calculation based on Life Cycle Assessment expected in October.
The Fairphone is designed with renewable resources
The Fairphone (Gen. 6) is produced using renewable energy across critical parts of the supply chain — including the assembly line, the display, the camera, and the battery. This was made possible through collaboration with forward-looking supply chain partners, who share our belief that clean technology should be powered by clean energy. It’s proof that when we work together across the industry — real change is not only possible, it’s tangible.
The Fairphone is 100% e-waste neutral
Once again, we’ve made this Fairphone 100% e-waste neutral. For every device we put on the market, we responsibly collect and recycle an equivalent weight of electronic waste. That means repurposing parts. Recycling materials. Reducing pollution.
And we take it even further — with initiatives like Race Against Waste, where schoolchildren across Europe learn to collect used phones, and challenge their communities to rethink tech waste. Because this work isn’t just about circularity. It’s about education, empowerment and building a culture of responsibility from the ground up.
The Fairphone is made with more than 50% fair and recycled materials
The Fairphone contains the highest percentage of fair and recycled materials of any smartphone known on the market — more than half of its total weight. That includes recycled aluminum, copper, tin, plastics, rare earth elements, and many more. It contains fair tungsten, includes Fairtrade gold in the supply chains of several components, and accounts for the rest of its gold, silver and cobalt via fair mined credit systems, that are set up to drive impact directly at the mine-sites and communities, such as child labor prevention and mine safety improvements.
The Fairphone is a more ethical smartphone
We are making just as much progress at the factories where the Fairphone is manufactured.
The final assembly takes place in a facility that meets some of the highest ethical and environmental standards in the industry. Workers are protected from chemical hazards. Worker safety and worker voice are front and center. Waste is minimized and recycled.
We back this with real investment — including living wage bonuses for workers across the supply chain. That is something unique to us, something NO other smartphone company does. And every year, we widen the list of beneficiaries and we’re inspiring others. For example, the manufacturer of our speaker modules has now started to pay full living wages on their own. To ALL their workers, even if they don’t work on Fairphone products.
That is the kind of shift that lasts. That’s what impact looks like in practice.
The Fairphone is what happens when innovation goes beyond features
At Fairphone, we don’t believe innovation starts on the outside. It starts with how something is made, who it benefits, and how long it lasts. We call this impact innovation. It means building products that are fast, reliable, and beautiful — yes — but also… products that empower supply chains, reduce harm, and reflect the values that we care about.
The Fairphone doesn’t make you choose between performance and ethics. It’s proof that the two belong together.
So yes — this phone is powerful. It’s well-designed. It fits with your everyday life.
And on top of that, it’s built with care. For people. For the planet. And for the kind of future we fully believe is possible.
