About your role

About your role

As a Mid/Senior Front-End Developer at Fairphone, you will be an integral part of our dynamic E-commerce team, directly impacting our online presence and customer journey. Your primary focus will be on the continuous improvement and optimization of our Odoo-based website. You will work closely with our CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) Specialist, enabling them to rapidly test and iterate on new ideas through the implementation of A/B tests and other experimental features. This role is crucial for driving our online sales by delivering a seamless, user-friendly, and high-converting experience.

You'll be an integral part of our Webshop team, operating within an agile Scrum framework. This team includes a dedicated Product Owner and a mix of Frontend and Backend developers. Collaboration is key; you'll partner closely with UX designers and quality controllers within the team, and extend that collaboration to other development teams and essential stakeholders like marketeers. 

A successful candidate in this role is someone who is not only technically proficient but also highly collaborative, possesses a strong problem-solving mindset, and is eager to contribute to a data-driven development process. Your ability to translate design mockups and CRO hypotheses into functional, performant, and maintainable code will be key to your success and our collective impact.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize front-end features for our Odoo-based webshop and website, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.

  • Work in close collaboration with the Product Owner and CRO Specialist to implement A/B tests, multivariate tests, and other experimental features to validate hypotheses and drive conversion improvements.

  • Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into high-quality, reusable front-end code, paying close attention to detail and user experience.

  • Optimize website performance for speed and scalability, addressing issues related to load times, rendering, and asset delivery.

  • Implement and maintain SEO best practices on the front-end to improve organic search visibility.

  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality and adherence to established standards.

  • Troubleshoot and debug front-end issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.

  • Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with server-side logic and APIs.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest front-end technologies, trends, and best practices, and proactively suggest improvements.

Your Skills & Experience

  • You have a minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in front-end web development.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript is a must-have.

  • Strong understanding of modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, Angular) is highly preferred, even if direct Odoo framework experience is not present.

  • Solid grasp of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3 (Sass/Less).

  • Demonstrable knowledge of SEO concepts and their front-end implementation.

  • Understanding of MVC (Model-View-Controller) architectural patterns.

About your role

The Reuse and Recovery Manager is primarily responsible for executing tasks related to the recovery and reuse of Fairphone products, contributing to circular economy initiatives. This role involves a significant focus on operational delivery and task execution within Fairphone's take-back programs, device refurbishment processes and repurpose strategies within the Circular operations team, part of the broader Operations Services department. This role is dedicated to expanding the circularity of our products by optimizing the reverse logistics flow, maximizing device recovery, and enhancing the quality and volume of refurbished products for resale. This position will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Commercial team, Product team, Impact team, and others.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

Key Responsibilities 
  • Refurbishment Operations: Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of device and spare parts refurbishment, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to established standards. 
  • Take-Back Programs: Develop, implement, and manage our take-back programs for collecting End of Life (EOL) or used Fairphone products from customers. This involves coordinating logistics, communication, buyback values and onboarding new products and/or processes into our take-back programs. 
  • Spare parts harvesting: Implement and manage processes to recover and reuse functional components from returned or end-of-life products, maximizing resource utilization and minimizing waste.
  • End of life management: Review End of Life (EOL) scenarios for products, considering demand, repair graded inventory, and units available for dismantling, to determine necessary harvesting and repair strategies.
  • Business Case Development: Develop and present business cases for new reuse and recovery initiatives, outlining potential financial impact.
Key Objectives
The objective of the role is to design, analyze and continuously improve and set up processes relevant to take-back, refurbishment and reuse initiatives. 
  • Execute and Optimize Fairphone's Circular Programs: Drive the effective execution of tasks and operational deliveries within the Fairphone Reuse and Recycling program and the company's refurbishment processes.
  • Strategic Contribution: Provide expert input on circular initiatives, ensuring that recovery and reuse perspectives are integrated into the product life cycle of Fairphone’s products.
  • Program Implementation and Management: Oversee the smooth implementation and ongoing management of programs focused on product lifecycle extension and responsible end-of-life processes.
  • Enable Circular Growth: Actively support the Circular Operations team in scaling up their circular initiatives, ultimately contributing to increased value for the company.

Core Activities

  • Lead take-back program/processes 

    • Manage the recycling partner’s relationship. 

    • Program performance review (Including operational and financial KPIs).

    • Onboard new Fairphone products in the program.

    • Monitor and update Fairphone model’s buy-back values.

    • Benchmarking of external buy-back schemes to identify improvements. 

    • Support in mapping new take-back processes.

    • Implement recovery programs to support EOL needs.

  • Lead Refurbishment processes

    • Carry out continuous refurbishment of Fairphone devices and spare parts.

    • Manage relationships with external partners for refurbishment services.

    • Elaborate Standard operating procedures for device refurbishment  (SOP)

    • Lead and coordinate with cross-functional teams on the availability of refurbished products for sales. 

    • Elaborate refurbishment business case (Including operational and financial KPIs).

    • Program performance review.

  • Collaborate End of life management 

    • End of Life (EOL) analysis to identify stock gaps and identify clear recover and repurpose strategy. 

    • Collaborating with other teams (Supply chain, Sales, Product) to ensure alignment on recovery and reuse initiatives.

  • Support the Circular Operations team 

    • Work closely with the Circular operations team lead to scale Fairphone's circular strategy for Fairphone products. 

    • Collaborating with other teams (e.g., C-ops team lead, Service operations manager) to ensure alignment on recovery and reuse initiatives.

    • Collaborate with our Operations Support Officer on administrative tasks.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in managing day-to-day operations.  Experience in refurbishment/reverse logistics is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of circular economy principles, product lifecycle management, and sustainable practices.

  • Experience with KPI management and program performance review, including operational and financial metrics.

  • Ability to develop, implement, and manage operational processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Experience in implementing reuse, recycling, and take-back programs is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage complex programs and projects from conception to execution.

  • Proven ability to manage relationships with external partners (e.g., recycling partners, refurbishment services).

  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in developing and presenting business cases, including financial impact analysis.

  • Ability to provide expert input and consultation on circular initiatives, integrating recovery and reuse perspectives into product lifecycle and team strategy.

About your role

As an ODM Program Manager for Audio Devices, you are responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of Fairphone’s audio hardware development in collaboration with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs). You ensure that product design, development, and validation align with Fairphone’s values of sustainability, modularity, and user repairability. You serve as the key liaison between Fairphone’s internal engineering teams and ODMs, overseeing program execution, issue resolution, and delivery on time, within budget, and to specification.

 • Ensure timely and successful delivery of audio device programs with ODM partners. Managing ODM deliverables such as project timelines, prototypes, testing, validation, and product ramp-up.

 • Translate Fairphone’s sustainability and product quality standards into actionable plans with external partners.

 • Coordinate across internal teams (Audio Design, Software, Hardware, Operations) to support ODM execution.

 • Drive continuous improvement in ODM collaboration practices, processes, and product outcomes.

Must-haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial) or related field.

• Good English and native Mandarin skills in writing and speaking to support communicating project progress and technical issues to stakeholders and addressing concerns.

• 10+ years ofexperience in consumer electronics or mobile industry, with a focus on ODM management.

• Proven success managing hardware development programs, especially in audio or mobile accessories.

• Strong project and program management skills, including cross-functional coordination.

• Deep understanding of product development lifecycle, DFM/DFT, and validation processes.

• Experience collaborating with overseas ODMs and manufacturers.
