We may collect and process the following data you provide us at the time of request of goods, services and information from us:

Non-personal data

Like most website operators, we collect data of non-personal information automatically and store them in log files, such as browser type, internet service provider (ISP), language preference, referral site, the date and timestamps, clickstream data and any other information that web browsers and servers typically make available.

Potentially Personally-Identifying Information

We also collect potentially personally-identifying information such as the data gathered when you leave comments on our blogs and forum or when you complete our surveys or when you apply for a position at Fairphone. Personal Data

Fairphone collects your personal data only insofar as is necessary, appropriate or really useful to fulfill the purpose of your interaction with Fairphone. These personal data includes:

(i) the details that you provide us by registering to our website. The details include contact information such as name, e-mail address, phone numbers, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, unique identifiers (such user name, account number, password), and preferences information (such as transaction history and marketing preferences);

(ii) If you choose to list your company with us, we may ask details on your business including company name, size, business type and VAT numbers;

(iii) the details of transactions you carry out through our Fairphone webshop and of the fulfilment of your order(s); and

(iv) the information that you provide us when you write to us, including per e-mail.

The purpose for collecting or processing the data

We use the data collected or processed about you in the following ways:

– Provided that you consented us, to supply you with information on our products, services and projects;

– To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us;

– To notify you about changes to our goods and services;

– To deal with inquiries, complaints or feedback made by you relating to our website, products and services;

– To ensure that the content from our website is presented in the most effective manner for you by better understanding how you use our website and based on this, to optimize our website.

– To analyze trends, administer our website and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.

We will collect and process your data strictly in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Disclosure of your data

Fairphone will never sell your data or information about you to any third parties.

We may permit our employees, third-party service providers and affiliate organizations to access your data strictly for the purpose which we allow them access to.

For example, we may provide your personal data to our service provider for the purpose of shipping your order, processing payments, product returns and repairs. These service providers are authorised to use your personal data only as necessary to fulfil these services to us.

In addition, these service providers will not contact you by electronic means to provide you with any newsletter, marketing email or information about our products and services.

We may disclose your personal data to third parties in the case of duty to disclose for the purpose of complying with any legal obligation, or to protect the rights, or safety of us and yours as our customers.

How we protect and secure your personal data

We process your personal data in accordance with the Dutch Data Protection Act (or known as, “Wet Bescherming Persoonsgegevens”). We have registered to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (or known as “Het College Bescherming Persoonsgegevens”) under the registration number of 1540849.

All information and data you provide to us is stored on our secure servers.

We attempt to collect, store and if applicable, process your personal data within the European Union, European Economic Area (“EEA”) and Switzerland. In the case where any collection, transfer or processing of your personal data occurs outside of these areas, we will ensure adequate data protection and privacy requirements.

Although we want you to feel confident in using our website and that we are committed in protecting the personal data we collect or process, no website can guarantee a complete security. We have implemented appropriate technical and security procedures to help protect the personal data that you provide us against any unlawful destruction, accidental loss, alteration or unauthorised disclosure or access. How long we retain data

We will not store your data for any longer period than permitted by law and only as necessary for the purpose which we have collect or process your data. Therefore, how long we retain your data depends on the type of data and the purpose for which we collected or processed your data.

Additional relevant privacy information

– Job applicants

If you apply for a position at Fairphone, we will collect information about your educational and professional background such as those provided in your CV, any reference letter about you or if relevant, in your LinkedIn page. The information will be solely used for the purpose of pre-selection and selection of applicants.

– Blogs/ Forum discussions

Our websites offers a publicly accessible blog and forum for community discussion. Please be aware that when you submit a post or comment to the our blogs or forum discussions page, visitors to and users of these pages will be able to see the content of your post and comment, the username associated with your post or comment, and the date and time you originally placed the post or comment.

Furthermore, any information you provide on the post or comment to our blog and forum may be read, collected and used by others who access them. The information others may read, collect and use from our blog or forum discussions includes your activities, your username, your prior comment or post, likes, badges, moderator status and how long you have been a member of our blog and forum discussion page.

Our website may contain links to and from the websites of our suppliers, partners, networks and affiliates. – Social Media Widgets

Our website includes social media features. These features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our site and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our website. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.
