Repairing the Fairphone (Gen. 6)

Non classifié(e)

With International Repair Day right around the corner, we figured now is the perfect time to showcase just how easy it is to swap out parts on the new Fairphone (Gen. 6). In case you missed it, our latest Fairphone model ups its game when it comes to performance with a Snapdragon® 7 Gen 3 processor, a solid triple camera system with a 50MP main lens, and a 4415mAh battery that lasts two days easy. It still retains that award-winning modular design that Fairphone is now famous for. You can replace up to 12 spare parts on the new Fairphone, including the battery, the display, and the USB-C port. How, you ask? Keep reading.

Replacing the Display

Never miss a thing, even in direct sunlight. At just the right size for single-handed use, visuals on this compact 6.31” display are always razor-sharp with vivid, true-to-life colors. The P-OLED display features an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, making sure watching movies and playing games is buttery-smooth. It’s also made from extra-strong Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, so you know it can easily withstand a random fall or two. In the event that the display does need to be replaced, swapping in a new one is no stress, thanks to your Fairphone’s modular design.

Replacing the Battery

The replaceable 4415 mAh lithium-ion battery may be more compact than its predecessor, but it lets you use your phone for much longer. Keep going for longer with a battery that lasts almost two days and charges to 50% in just 20 minutes. Did you know that 100% of the cobalt used is covered by fair cobalt credits? Installing a new battery? It’s easy. Just open the back.

Replacing the Top Unit

The top unit houses both the flash and the time-of-flight (ToF) sensor. The flash also functions as a flashlight, while the ToF sensor is essential for post-processing your photos and videos. The sensor also helps with object recognition, which is useful for certain AI and AR features.

Replacing the Cameras and Ear Piece

A high-quality 50MP main camera, AI-optimized low-light performance, an ultra-wide lens to capture everything in focus, and a 32MP selfie camera with autofocus for razor-sharp portraits. The Fairphone (Gen. 6) is designed to help you capture precious moments in true-to-life colors, seamlessly and intuitively. Meanwhile, the earpiece ensures all your calls and voice messages come through perfectly, with nothing muffled and nothing garbled.

Replacing the USB-C port and Loudspeaker

They are tiny components, but oh-so-crucial. The loudspeaker is your Fairphone’s voice box, and if it’s not working right, your Fairphone isn’t going to sound right. The USB-C port makes sure your Fairphone is charging properly, and transferring data at optimal speeds. However, compared to other parts within your phone, the USB-C port is also the one that’s under the most physical stress. Thankfully, with a Fairphone, you can replace both in minutes, for the fraction of the cost of a new device.
