If you experience any manufacturing defects with any of our products (hey, it happens sometimes), you’re covered by a 2-year warranty. This is alongside your legal rights, as a consumer, when you purchase products from our website or from a reseller.

It’s also our goal to inspire others to go beyond what is legally required and make products that last as long as possible so that we can all drastically reduce the environmental footprint created by the manufacturing process.


Fairphone 4 Extended Warranty

The majority of smartphones are covered by a 2-year warranty by default. With Fairphone 4, we go the extra mile to cover your new phone for up to 5 years at no additional cost and no matter where or how you purchased the phone originally.

All you need to do is register your Fairphone 4. This also applies if you received it as a gift. We kindly ask you to do this at your earliest convenience.


How it works

  1. Wait for your new Fairphone 4 to be delivered.
  2. Unbox and set up your new phone.
  3. Apply using our short registration form
  4. We’ll send you a confirmation email, including the expiry date
  5. That’s it, you’re all done.

Duration of your Extended Warranty

The duration of your Fairphone 4 warranty includes the standard 2 years plus the additional extension. This extension is calculated based upon the purchase date.

If you have experienced a long wait for your Fairphone 4 order to arrive, do not worry, we are currently adding 12 weeks to the expiration date of the Extended Warranty. This means everyone benefits from the full warranty period. Remember to check the warranty expiration date in your confirmation email once you have registered.

Warranty for all Fairphone products

Whether it’s one of our smartphones, an accessory or spare part, you will be covered by the 2-year warranty starting from the date of purchase or delivery depending on your circumstances. This covers all manufacturing defects. You can find examples of what’s not covered by warranty at the bottom of this page.

Remember to keep your receipt or a proof of purchase. You need to provide these in the future if you ever need to make a warranty claim.


Where to get help

If you have a warranty claim, please contact the company where you originally purchased your Fairphone product. If applicable, repairs, replacements, shipping and any costs involved will be arranged by them.

  • Purchased from Fairphone’s website: that’s easy, you are in the right place and you should start a conversation with us.

  • Purchased from a reseller: we recommend contacting the reseller first as they can see your order history and could provide you with additional options or solutions.
  • Received as a gift: you can benefit from the warranty as long as you can provide the original proof of purchase. We kindly ask you to also contact the company where it was originally purchased.
  • Purchased second-hand: you can also benefit from the original 2-year warranty as long as you can provide the original proof of purchase. We kindly ask you to contact the company where it was originally purchased.


Troubleshooting and DIY repairs

We’re serious about our claim: Yours to open, yours to keep. Unlike other brands, we encourage you to repair or upgrade your Fairphone yourself so DIY repairs following our tutorials and repair guides should not void your warranty.

What’s not covered by warranty?

Issues including normal wear and tear, accidental or cosmetic damage are not covered by warranty. Here are some examples:

  • deterioration of your battery performance
  • broken display after you dropped your phone
  • scratches on your back cover from daily handling.

For whatever the reason your issue is not covered by warranty, we can still help you with any repairs that are needed and you can find affordable spare parts and replacements on our website.
